MacRae, Perry, MacRae & Whitley, LLP is a law firm located in Fayetteville, North Carolina. This firm and its predecessors have practiced law in this community for over 100 years.


James C. MacRae began practicing law with his father in 1961.

He has been practicing law in Fayetteville for 47 years.  His areas of practice are representing those who are injured or killed as a result of the wrongful act of another and other general civil and criminal law.

After fighting in the Korean War and serving in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1958, he graduated with a degree in Political Science from UNC Chapel Hill in 1958.  He then graduated from UNC Law School with a LLB degree in 1961.  James has served as counselor for the 12th Judicial District with the North Carolina State Bar and as President of the Cumberland County Bar Association.  He is currently a member of the North Carolina State Bar and the Cumberland County Bar Association.

James was born in Asheville, but has been a resident of Fayetteville, North Carolina for 70 years.  He graduated from Fayetteville High School in 1951.  He is married and has four children and nine grandchildren.  He is a member of St. Johns Episcopal Church and in his free time he enjoys scuba diving, flying planes, snow skiing, fishing, and being at the beach.

 

Daniel T. Perry, III began working with the firm in 1973.

He has been licensed to practice law for 39 years and his areas of practice are worker’s compensation, representing those who are injured or killed as a result of the wrongful act of another, mediations and other general civil and criminal law.  He graduated from UNC Chapel Hill with his BA in 1966, and obtained his law degree in 1969 from the University of South Carolina.  He started his career as an Assistant District Attorney in the 12th Judicial District (Cumberland and Hoke County) from 1970 to 1973.  Dan is currently a member of the North Carolina State Bar, the Cumberland County Bar Association and the North Carolina Advocates for Justice.

Although he was born in Longview, Texas, he graduated from Fayetteville High School in 1962, and has been a resident of Fayetteville, North Carolina for 64 years.  He is married and has three children and two grandchildren.  He attends First Presbyterian and in his free time, he enjoys golf, quail hunting and fishing.

 

James C. MacRae, Jr. began working with the firm in 1989.

Jim is licensed to practice in all state courts as well as all United States District
Courts in North Carolina, the U.S. Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals and U.S. Supreme Court.

He graduated from Western Carolina University with a degree in Criminal Justice in 1983 and from North Carolina Central University School of Law in 1988.  He served as an Assistant District Attorney in Cumberland County, North Carolina in 1988 and 1989.  He is presently a member of the North Carolina State Bar, the Cumberland County Bar Association, and the North Carolina Advocates for Justice.

Jim was born in Chapel Hill, North Carolina in August of 1960.  He grew up in Fayetteville and graduated from Terry Sanford High School in 1979.  He has been a member of St. Johns Episcopal Church since 1961.  When he is not working, he enjoys outdoor activities, music and spending time with his friends and family, which includes his wife and their two children.

 

Gregory T. Whitley began working for the firm in 2008.

He graduated from UNC Chapel Hill in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Political Science.  He then graduated from Campbell University School of Law in 2008.  While at Campbell, Greg was a member of the Campbell Law Review.  Greg is currently a member of the North Carolina State Bar, Cumberland County Bar Association and the North Carolina Advocates for Justice.  Greg is licensed to practice in North Carolina State Courts and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina.

 Greg's practice focuses on civil litigation, business setup and litigation, criminal defense, and eminent domain and zoning issues.

 

Greg was born in Salisbury, North Carolina in 1982.  He grew up in Albemarle and graduated from Albemarle High School.  He has lived in Fayetteville since January, 2007. He is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys fishing, hunting and golfing!
